PARTNER NEWS: Groupement des Cartes Bancaires (GIE CB), the French bank card association which pioneered the use of chip cards for payments in the 1980s, has selected Pure, Gemalto’s white label mobile wallet solution, to enable its member banks to more quickly deploy their own NFC mobile and in-app payment services by bypassing one-to-one negotiations with international payment schemes.

Gemalto“Until now, French banks have been using specifications provided by international schemes to implement their mobile NFC payment apps, simply because only international schemes had such specifications available for them,” Xavier Larduinat, financial services specialist at Gemalto, told NFC World.

“That resulted in one-to-one negotiations between banks and those international schemes. GIE CB has now selected Pure, providing all its members with a faster recipe to launch mobile NFC (app development and test plans). In addition to a better time to market, French banks using those GIE CB specs will no longer need to deal with international schemes’ specifications.”

Pure is a white label payment solution compliant with international standards used today by “27 national payment schemes and large retailers in the world”, according to Gemalto. Its specifications will allow GIE CB members to deploy mobile NFC payments as well as in-app payment for mobile apps.

“The solution is compatible with services provided by STET, the pan-European payment processing service provider, as well as within the broad network of merchants already supporting GIE CB contactless payments,” the company adds.
